Going from one macOS to another newer OS is called an upgrade, these do not appear in the App Store Updates page,

Before upgrading make a full back up of your Mac. Check with developers of any third party apps that there are updates available so those apps will continue to work in the chosen OS. Also check with manufacturers of printers/ scanners etc that you have to see if there are updated drivers and software so they will continue to function.
